NUMBER TEN The Oscars 1997 in John Galliano Many fashion critics see this as the start of Nicole's 'fashion icon status' because very few stars are daring enough to wear this colour. Elegant in a yellow dress with flowery embriodery Nicole looks bold and beautiful.

NUMBER NINE Cold Mountain LA Premiere 2003 in Ungaro This soft white suit drapes around Nicole gracefully and highlights her statuesque figure. The coloured beads and softly curled red-blonde hair complement the look.

NUMBER EIGHT The Oscars 2002 in Chanel Couture with a Bulgari necklace It's a very pale colour, like her skin, but different enough not to make her look washed-out. It looks simple yet stunning, and is light, feminine and just very pretty.

NUMBER SEVEN Golden Globes 2004 in Tom Ford for Yves St Laurent You either love it or hate it, but you have to applaud Nicole for trying something very different with this sequinned flapper dress. And for that reason it makes the Top 10 (and because I love it).

NUMBER SIX The Golden Globes 2003 in Tom Ford for Yves St Laurent Nicole was a vision of beauty in this light purple gown. The cut at the front showed just enough of her envied legs to keep it elegant, and she accessorised with chandelier earrings, proving they were back in fashion.

NUMBER FIVE MTV Movie Awards 2002 in Dolce and Gabanna Sleek and sophisticated in a black and white suit, Nicole reminded us she was Hollywood royalty, but added some fun to the outfit with sunglasses and a blonder, straight hair style with a one-sided fringe.

NUMBER FOUR The Oscars 2003 in Gaultier Nicole wanted something beautiful yet respectful (due to the war at the time) for this Oscars, and she got it right! The floaty black material looks elegant and the 3 straps add something more to the dress. The gold statue goes well with it too!

NUMBER THREE Cannes 2003 Dogville Premiere in Pucci and Bulgari made by Christan Lacriox You can't miss her in this! Nicole makes her mark on Cannes with a famed Pucci-print dress ... and even her jewellry is multi-coloured! With a dress like this, she smartly keeps her hair simple.

NUMBER TWO The Oscars 2000 in John Galliano for Christian Dior This metallic gold dress really made Nicole stand out on the red carpet, and showed that she was becoming more confident in being an equally big a star as Tom, and as one of Hollywood's most daring and beautiful fashion icons.

NUMBER ONE Cannes 2001 Moulin Rouge Premiere in Tom Ford This was Nic's first official public appearance since her divorce was announced, and she couldn't have picked a better dress. The Moulin Rouge/Can-Can inspired ruffles add a fun and flirty touch to a princess-like dress.
