Trespass Exclusive Photos and On Set Interview: Joel Schumacher Talks About the Universal Fear of Home Invasion, The Luck Virus of Success and Chasing Demi Moore
- From 30ninjas.com
After twelve straight hours of travel I arrived on the set of Trespass, in scenic Shreveport, Louisiana. As I was driving toward the swampy park that had all of the charm of the languid, rural south, an incomplete skeleton of a housing addition appeared in the distance. I made a pit stop at the “station”, on the outskirts of the property where the trailers were parked, and my contact revealed to me that the housing addition was the set of one of the climactic scenes of the film and that Joel Schumacher was in the process of filming Nicole Kidman and Nicholas Cage. Sweet! Fueled by a hunger wrought from the passion of the final scene of The Lost Boys, I rampaged the set to squeeze all of the information I could out of the director (i.e. I was carefully guided — so as not to ruin the filming of a pivotal scene — to a spot where I could patiently wait for Joel to have a break from filming).

Another buzz film from this year’s TIFF is John Cameron Mitchell’s adaptation of David Lindsay-Abaire’s stageplay Rabbit Hole (Lionsgate), this one based on a play and featuring the return of Nicole Kidman to the type of dramatic fare that helped her win an Oscar for The Hours years ago. It was quickly scooped up by Lionsgate and is getting a suitable campaign to try to get Kidman nominated in the crowded Leading Actress category, and the movie’s also gotten raves for the performance by Aaron Eckhart, who may have trouble getting a nomination going against stronger leading actors. Lindsay-Abaire’s adaptation of his own screenplay may also receive attention from fellow writers much like other play adaptation.

Award season dominated by stellar leading ladies
When “Cairo Time” star Patricia Clarkson looks at the well of potential female nominees for lead actress, she sees plenty of competition, but feels great about it.
“It’s always the male category that’s so deeply competitive, with so many great actors left behind,” says Clarkson. “So it’s really a beautiful thing to see a lot of films carried by women this year. Both categories should be deeply competitive. That’s how it should be.”
The list of contending women joining Clarkson is impressive: Annette Bening and Julianne Moore (“The Kids Are All Right”), Jennifer Lawrence (“Winter’s Bone”), Lesley Manville (“Another Year”), Nicole Kidman (“Rabbit Hole“), Natalie Portman (“Black Swan”), Michelle Williams (“Blue Valentine”), Anne Hathaway (“Love and Other Drugs”), Noomi Rapace (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”), Sally Hawkins (“Made in Dagenham”), Tilda Swinton (“I Am Love”), Hilary Swank (“Conviction”) and Naomi Watts (“Fair Game”).
OK, breathe, because there’s more to consider. Now add Halle Berry (“Frankie and Alice”), Gwyneth Paltrow (“Country Strong”), Diane Lane (“Secretariat”), Reese Witherspoon (“How Do You Know”) and Helen Mirren (“The Tempest”).
It’s hard not to ignore that the majority of the pool are performances from indies, and some of these were the arthouse hits of 2010: “Winter’s Bone,” “The Kids Are All Right,” and “I Am Love” to name a few.
“The female audience has always been a big part of the independent film world, no question,” says Magnolia Pictures president Eamon Bowles. “This was a year when there were great female performances in really strong films.”

Sorry for the delay on these! Earlier this week Nicole accompanied her husband to the Country Music Association Awards in Nashville. Nicole looked pretty in a little white lace Dolce & Gabbana dress, with big red strapped L’Wrenn Scott heels. After the awards show itself the twosome were spotted looking very sweet together at the Capitol Records Party!
Over 80 photos from the event have been added to the Gallery. Sadly not all in as great quality as usual, but you know I’m always on the lookout for better quality versions! Read on below for tidbits and a video from the event.
I like Nicole’s look at this event … what do you think?
Is a country music career in the cards for Sunday Rose, the 2-year-old daughter of Kidman and Urban? “She did come in the studio and sang a little bit,” Urban told CMT. “She was good, with the headphones on,” added Kidman, who also shared news on her daughter’s dual Southern/Australian accent: “She says ‘ya’ll’ and ‘g’dday, mate.’ So she’s a mix.”

If Nicole Kidman had the chance to live her life again she’d be a director.
The Hours star admits she’s “very thrilled” to be an actress, but she’d have preferred to be a filmmaker.
She tells The Hollywood Reporter, “I’d choose to be a director.
“I think to be a director you have to have a camera in your hand and you’ve got to be looking at the world in a particular way. I didn’t have that upbringing.”
