Welcome to Nicole's Magic, a fansite for the spectacular spectacular Academy Award winning Australian actress Nicole Kidman. As of March 2013, Nicole's Magic is entering a new phase of its fansite life, now focussing on paying tribute to Nicole's career up to and including 2006. As part of a bi-monthly feature here at Nicole's Magic, each month we will be taking a look back at one of Nicole's films or acting projects. Nicole has an immense body of work behind her, and there's no better way to be reminded of her talent and how much we love her than immersing ourselves and taking an in depth look at those works.

Nicole attended the Golden Globe Awards last night, and looked stunning in a black Alexander McQueen gown, with Fred Leighton jewellry and curly hair. I really love this look on her, particularly the hairstyle! Unfortunately she didn’t win either of the awards she was up for – Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress In A Mini-Series – but it was still fantastic for her to be honoured with nominations, particularly for The Paperboy!
There are lots of gorgeous photos from this event, but unfortunately I haven’t had time to sort through and add them all just yet. So for now, 3 teaser HQs are in the Gallery to wet your appetite for the rest that will be added in the next few days. I will also add any tidbits and vids from the event.

Nicole attended the G’Day USA Gala in Los Angeles last night, as one of the past honourees invited back to celebrate it’s 10-year anniversary. Nicole was honoured at the event back in 2005. Nicole wore what may be the prettiest dress ever made – a short coral sequinned dress by Elie Saab – and accessorised with Bottega Veneta heels and Fred Leighton earrings. Her husband – also a past honouree – was with her, and the twosome posed with BFF’s Hugh Jackman and Deborra Lee Furness on the red carpet, and then with Simon Baker on stage.
I’ll be on the lookout for videos etc. from this sometime/asap in the week. For now, you can find over 90 gorgeous HQ photos of Nicole at this event in our gallery!
Nicole should be at the Golden Globe Awards tonight where she is nominated twice, for Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for The Paperboy, and Best Performance by an Actress In A Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television for Hemingway and Gellhorn. Let’s wish her a big good luck and hope she pulls off two deserving wins! Check back for coverage from the event starting from tomorrow and then over the following few days. If you’re registered at our forum then you might have fun posting about the event as it happens in there … you can also ‘live comment’ on here as well, if you’d like

Whilst making some videos to upload for our Movie Of The Month, I started wondering whether to change the format of our (much neglected) videos section, so thought it best to ask your opinions. So I’d like to hear your feedback – do you like the Video section as it is, like this, or would you prefer to see it in the same format as the Gallery is, for example how this video archive is (ours – and that one – will have pretty layouts rather than the default one seen at that link).
Please have a look through both and tell me which one you like most so I can start uploading some more videos for you!

Just a heads-up on plans for the site – in November I posted about my intentions to focus this site on Nicole’s earlier work from the start of the new year … since then we have had the surprise of Nicole being nominated for the SAG and Golden Globe Awards, and because of the excitement of Awards season I will be doing my best to cover that over the coming two months. When Nicole’s awards season run ends – whether that be after the SAGs, or after Oscar night (let’s hope!), depending on next weeks nominations – the original plan will be ‘implemented’ and the site will be focussing strictly on Nicole’s older work. So just to let you know, we will be covering awards season here in some way

We finally – finally, finally! – have a new Movie Of The Month! You can see what it is below, and it is one of my absolute favourite movies of Nicole’s, and a movie that seems to be close to Nicole’s heart as well as to many of us fans. Nicole has even recently said that the character is one of her favourites that she has played. So much of the film’s beauty is how visual it is, and the journey the characters take us on – I have so much respect for Anthony Minghella’s work on this film, and I hope I have started to do the film justice with this feature page.
If you’d like your reviews/opinions on the film to be included on this page then just send me an email or post a comment and I will add them. Either way, I hope you are inspired to watch this stirring epic of a film again soon.

The Movie Of The Month feature will be worked a bit differently from February onwards – it will become bi-monthly so will be up every two months, and I intend to ‘announce’ the choice early in the first month and add the feature page asap within that month. Updates for those two months will consist of things relating to that movie, eg gallery updates, media, videos, maybe some interactive features, and more. This will hopefully make it more do-able for me as well as giving you as many updates as possible.

We are in luck, as I have just found a digital edition of the new Paris Match, and so have been able to add digital scans from it to our Gallery! It’s a good 8-page feature on Nicole’s upcoming film Grace Of Monaco, with new photos from the film alongside pictures of Grace herself.
Trivia fans will be interested to note that this is the 3rd time Nicole has played a character named Grace!
Check out the scans in the Gallery:

Nicole graces (pardon the pun) the cover of the new December 27th issue of French magazine Paris Match, posing as Grace Kelly and with an article talking about the movie inside. A preview of the cover has been added to our Gallery, and you can read an excerpt from the article – in French – below or at the Paris Match website.
If anyone can contribute scans from this magazine to us then please get in touch! I know everyone would be very appreciative to be able to see inside the magazine
Nicole Kidman.
« Coupez ! »

Fellow Nicole superfan Nathaniel at The Film Experience was one of several film bloggers who’ve had the chance to interview Nicole recently in her awards season promotion for The Paperboy, and he posted his interview with her just before Christmas. Then on Christmas Day he posted an additional transcript of him talking to her about her Oscar win for The Hours, to mark the 10 years since the film’s release.
