As reported a few days ago, Nic is on the cover of the new issue of Marie Claire UK, and we now have more coverage from the spread!! Marie Claire have released excerpts from the interview, plus the new photoshoot … which is gorgeous! You can see it all at marieclaire.co.uk, and I’ve added the photos to our Gallery. Further down this post are a few articles about the interviews, and some select quotes.
I bought the magazine today, and it is a fantastic spread. The interview is good (as is often the case with Marie Claire), and Nicole talks very candidly about her first marriage, the effect the divorce had on her and how she recovered from it to find love again, botox, death, her eldest children, and more. It’s a really interesting read.
Thanks go to Ridhi from Marie Claire UK for her email and a HQ photo!
Nicole Kidman on her near death experience
She goes on to tell me about the near-death experience she faced five years ago when the helicopter she was travelling in dropped out of the skies. No one knows about this, she confides. ‘The engine stopped and everyone was screaming and I became unbelievably calm. The pilot panicked, people panicked, but I just went, “OK, this is what’s going to be. Please don’t make it too painful.”’ The pilot landed safely but, apart from being ‘grateful to be walking this earth’, the ordeal was an awakening. ‘Maybe it was the shock that made me so calm, but I love it when I surprise myself and see what I’m made of. I suppose that’s what I call discovering who I am.’
Nicole Kidman on Partying
Has she ever partied hard? ‘I’m Australian,’ she smiles. ‘There are times when I have to go and play, but I don’t drink. It’s a supporting thing and not really a big ask. Certainly when I was younger, I wanted to experience everything. So I did. But my imagination is so powerful I have to be careful how I use it. I can make myself believe anything. That’s how I act.’ Her answer prompts me to impudently ask whether she’s tried magic mushrooms. ‘I refuse to answer that! I’ll see it on the cover of the next tabloid. But sure, I’ve lived my life.’

Nicole Kidman: Blossoming in her own time
Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman talks to Metro about her desire to have more children and her many failures in the kitchen.
‘The one reason I’d love to win some major award again is because I have a partner now to share it with,’ laughs Nicole Kidman a couple of weeks before Christmas in Beverly Hills. ‘When I won the Oscar for The Hours in 2003, it just went past. I would so love that moment with Keith [Urban, her country-singing husband since 2006] because these sorts of things are very much about your marriage. We talk about Rabbit Hole as “our film” because he gave up a lot for me to make it. It’s definitely our daughter Sunday’s film too.’
The 43-year-old knows she will not win an Oscar this year, bar a Hollywood upset of unprecedented proportions. It might be Natalie Portman’s year for trophies but it is Kidman’s year for so much else – not least because of the release of Rabbit Hole, her first shot as producer of a critically acclaimed, money-making film, that rare but happy Hollywood combination.
‘It was about sheer will and a lot of begging,’ she says, laughing hard. ‘We tried to finance it right when the crash happened and people said: “Oh my God, nobody is going to want to see this film.”’
Rabbit Hole is a surprisingly uplifting, and at times immensely painful, story of a couple – Kidman’s Becca and Aaron Eckhart’s Howie – whose young son is killed in a traffic accident. It is based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning play that Kidman fell for and her production company, Blossom, purchased the screen rights to.

Promotion for Just Go With It is on the up, and new stills and clips from the film have been released. Sadly, though, none featuring Nicole that I can see! View 27 new stills here at daemonsmovies.com, and 6 new clips here at collider.com.
Adamn Sandler and Jennifer Aniston also mentioned Nicole briefly in a recent interview with Access Hollywood:
The co-stars also had praise for Nicole’s figure.
“She’s in ridiculous shape too,” Adam said.
“Have you ever seen a six-pack like that?” Jennifer asked. “I actually had to touch it.”

Nicole Kidman has revealed she would love her daughter Sunday Rose to follow in husband Keith Urban’s musical footsteps.
The Oscar-winning actress has sung in Moulin Rouge and dueted with Hugh Laurie and Robbie Williams, but told Simon Mayo on his Radio 2 Drivetime show that while she has no plans to duet with her husband, she would love her two-year-old daughter to sing.
Nicole said: “I’m very comfortable listening. I would love it if Sunday Rose would learn an instrument and sing a bit because I love having music in the house.
She added: “She certainly sits at the piano at the moment, that was her Christmas present, a pink piano. She sits down and thumps away and sings Jingle Bells.”
The 43-year-old actress lives in Nashville with her musician husband and feels she has had a country music education.

Now that her secret’s out, Nicole Kidman can’t stop raving about her newborn daughter Faith Margaret.
Born via surrogate on December 28 in Nashville, the Rabbit Hole star, 43, and hubby Keith Urban kept the news of their family’s latest addition private until January 30.
“We have a new little baby,” the Nina Ricci-clad actress told UsMagazine.com at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in L.A. Sunday. “It is beyond thrilling!”
As for any mini-milestones, “she is still only 5 weeks old,” Kidman said. “She is kind of just looking around.”
Speaking to E!’s Giuliana Rancic, the Best Actress nominee (she lost to Natalie Portman) explained how she and Urban, 43, chose their daughter’s name.
“We needed to have that through the whole pregnancy. That’s what it required — a lot of faith.”

Nicole Kidman doesn’t like to use her status to queue-jump.
The Oscar-winning actress – who lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband Keith Urban and their children, Sunday Rose, two, and one-month-old Faith – admitted while the family love going out for dinner together, they don’t like to receive “special treatment”.
She said: “We actually go to this place in Nashville called The Copper Kettle. It’s like a meat and three, which means there’s some form of meat and three vegetables, real down to earth.
“We don’t like to jump lines. It’s not cool, we just like to be like the locals and get no special treatment.”
The 43-year-old star – who produces and stars in new film ‘Rabbit Hole’, which deals with themes of loss within a family – also explained she has experienced an overwhelming reaction from other mothers at her daughter’s school who can indentify with the movie.
Nicole added to BBC Radio 2: “I had a woman come up to me at my daughters school and just hug me. She said, ‘I just feel so close to you now’. That’s never happened to this degree before.
“I mean, young girls have wanted to come up and hold my hand because of ‘Moulin Rouge’ but it’s never been so visceral before where people just want to hold on to you and share their experiences with you.”

Rabbit Hole dropped just 5% and sits with $1.5 million, while the Best Actress nomination for Nicole Kidman gives the low-key drama an outside shot at recouping its $5 million budget.
- hollywoodnews.com
Lionsgate’s best actress nominee “Rabbit Hole” expanded 23 screens to 124 in its seventh weekend. Starring Nicole Kidman as a woman grieving over the death of her son, the John Cameron Mitchell directed film grossed $167,000, averaging a fair $1,347 as it took its total to $1,529,000. Despite an Oscar nomination and the starpower of Kidman, “Rabbit Hole” has still been outgrossed by both of Mitchell’s previous films, “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” and “Shortbus.”

I have a massive SAG Awards update for you today! I’ve added screencaps from all the videos I posted yesterday from the event, as well as screencaps from the show itself. I forgot to mention yesterday that Nicole presented the Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Leading Role award at the event, which went to Colin Firth. And of course she herself was nominated for Outstanding Actress. So screencaps from those two presentations are in the Gallery. Videos from them will be posted here asap.
The Channel 10 News (January 31st 2011) segment featured the first photo of Faith Margaret, so see the screencap in there!
I’ve also added another 150+ photos from the event, 50 of which are additional HQs. These (though sadly not the HQs) include some fantastic shots of Nic inside the event, and we can see her talking to the The King’s Speech director Tom Hooper (who I believe is half-Australian), her The Portrait Of A Lady co-star Barbara Hershey (who is currently seen in Black Swan). And, for me, best of all, there are some snaps of Nicole and Glee‘s Chris Colfer together! Looks like they were both quite excited to meet each other – how cute! I wonder if she’s a Glee fan!? I’d love to see her on the show
Enjoy all the many photos, there’s a lot for you to browse!

Here we go with the first big update full of coverage from last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards! Most importantly (and unfortunately), Nicole did not win the Oustanding Lead Actress award, with the statue predictably going to Black Swan star Natalie Portman. As I said after the Golden Globes though, the fact that Rabbit Hole and Nicole have been embraced so positively since September is such an incredible thing, that everything is a win – nothing is a loss.
So, today I’ve uploaded over 100 HQ photos from the event last night! I can’t decide whether I love this look or not – what do you think? Regardless of that, there are some fantastic shots in there, and again Nic seems to be really enjoying the experience! As I said last night, she’s wearing a dress by Nina Ricci, with jewels by Fred Leighton. There are lots more photos – including some great audience shots – to come asap as well. Thank go to Marica for a few of these HQs.
Secondly, scroll further down this post for a batch of videos from the night, including her interview with E! live on the red carpet, in which she talked about the new addition to the Kidman-Urban family. Keith also showed off some photos on his iPhone of her, which you can read about in the posts below this one, and SEE in a couple of the videos below. The Kidman-Urbans obviously like showing off their daughters on iPhone’s, as Nicole did the same thing at the Capitol Records Nashville Post-ACM Party back in 2009, after Sunday was born!
Get browsing, and enjoy all this wonderful new award show-goodness! It’s all such a treat. And check back tomorrow for more, including additional photos, tidbits from the show, screencaps from the videos, and more!! Enjoy
