For the second year in a row, I got to sit and chat with Nicole Kidman backstage at the Grammy Awards. Why is an Oscar winner, and Best Actress nominee- for “Rabbit Hole”–hanging out at the Staples Center on Grammy night? Well, because her husband, and now father of two of her children, is Keith Urban, winner of the Best Country Performance by a Male Singer.
And while Keith is on stage or doing press, Nicole is backstage having dinner, and meeting music people. For a few hours, she isn’t the focus of everyone’s attention, which is nice. Backstage she ran into another “rock widow”–Heidi Klum, married to Seal.
Between Heidi’s German accent and Nicole’s Aussie ear, they almost needed a translator! Said Heidi: “I just went tenting.” Nicole: “Tinting?” “No, tenting.” Klum explained she’d just pitched a $50 tent in the Grand Canyon with the crew of her new TV show. “I loved it!” Heidi exclaimed.
Kidman is waiting for the February 27th Oscar ceremony by shooting a highly anticipated HBO movie about Ernest Hemingway and his famous writer wife, Martha Gellhorn. “It’s a terrific role,” Nicole told me, “but very demanding. I have to get up there to San Francisco and get my head into it.”

As expected, our Nicole did attend the Grammys last night with her husband. And boy did she look amazing! She wore a floral Jean Paul Gaultier dress with Fred Leighton jewellry and her red hair down and curly. I absolutely adore this look on Nicole, the dress is perfect for her and the colours are fabulous. Two thumbs up, 5 stars etc. Definitely one of my favourite look of hers from the last few years.
Keith did win an award (congratulations!) but it was announced before the show, so he didn’t get to give a speech on stage, sadly. The couple seemed to be having a great time during the show though! Nicole was spotted singing and dancing along to Katy Perry (scroll down) and Mick Jagger, and she even bumped into a few of her good friends there – seated behind her was Baz Luhrmann, and further along Baz’s row was L’Wren Scott (Nicole’s long time friend and stylist, and Mick Jagger’s girlfriend). And Nicole and Keith were seen sharing a warm reunion with Nic’s Nine co-star and friend Kate Hudson … possibly discussing their individual baby news?!
I have added 41 beautiful HQs from the ceremony to our Gallery today, and I will hopefully have more time tomorrow to make a bigger post, with more photos, and some articles, videos etc. For now though, scroll down this post for THE cutest and funniest video of Nicole singing along to Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ – how can you not love her?!

Charlize Theron. Gwyneth Paltrow. Marion Cotillard. Rachel Weisz. Rachel is the latest in a string of top actresses that has been linked to Nicole’s upcoming project The Danish Girl. The Hollywood Reporter now report that she is attached, and state that director Lasse Hallstrom will shoot the film this summer. The project has been stop-starting for the last few years, and in a recent interview Nicole said she expected it would take quite a long time to get full financing for the film.
I’ll keep you posted on further developments! Nicole will be starting filming for Hemingway & Gelhorn anyday now, and she said she is close to closing a deal for Sweet Bird Of Youth on Broadway later this year, so it could potentially be a busy year for her.
Hallstrom, currently in post on Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, will shoot Nicole Kidman/Rachel Weisz starrer The Danish Girl in Germany this summer. That picture will move into post just as The Hypnotist begins principal photography.

Now there’s a title none of us was expecting to be hearing or saying!!! Just Go With It, the comedy in which Nicole has a small role alongside Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, has topped the US box office this weekend! Congratulations to Nicole and the Just Go With It team on their success!
Thanks to our forum member LibbieBee for the heads-up about this!
‘Go With It,’ ‘Bieber’ vie for B.O. top spot
After last weekend’s female-charged Super Bowl weekend, women again drove the domestic box office as Sony’s Adam Sandler-Jennifer Aniston starrer “Just Go With It,” with an estimated $31 million, narrowly beat Paramount’s 3D biopic-music concert hybrid, “Just Bieber: Never Say Never,” which estimated $30.3 million.
“Just Go With It’s” weekend demo was 58% femme-driven – a significant change since Sandler pics typically skew more male – while “Never Say Never” saw an expected overwhelming female turnout, with 84%, boosted by the pop phenom’s teen girl craze.
Despite both films’ strong bows, along with a terrific start for Disney’s 3D toon “Gnomeo and Juliet,” estimating $25.5 million, the weekend sesh still was down from its comparable 2010 frame, which was President’s Day Weekend. Studios expect three-day grosses from this year’s top 10 to trail 2010 by approximately 29%.

The new March 2011 issue of US In Style has a feature entitled ‘Sweet Inspirations’, in which they ask Academy Award winners to tell them which other winner has inspired them over the years. Nicole is included, and she chose Cate Blanchett as her inspiration, and with it comes a new photoshoot of the two of them together. Below is a preview of the pages, and I will try to get full sized scans for us asap.

Film buffs who think their favorite movie stars look good enough to eat are in luck this Oscar season.
Specialty dessert purveyor Eleni’s, located in Chelsea Market, is offering 16-cookie packages decked out in royal icing designed in the images of awards contenders like Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, Colin Firth and James Franco.
So far, sales of the cookies bearing the faces of female Oscar nominees seem to be outpacing those carrying the men’s mugs, according to Eleni’s sales representative James Slattery. But that all could change, he cautioned, after Valentine’s Day fades away and Oscar excitement picks up.
The cookies, which sell for $58.50 per pack, are made using an edible imaging technology, Slattery said. A very thin sheet of transparent sugar paper is printed out with designs made of edible food dye.
“We just slap it on when the royal icing is still soft,” Slattery said, “and it just dissolves it.”
Hand-iced Best Picture cookies — a boxing glove represents “The Fighter,” a sperm donor symbol for “The Kids Are All Right,” etc. — are also available. Because the preparation process for these is more involved, they go for $68.50 a pack.
With a lead-time of one day, movie buffs can also order Oscar cupcakes in vanilla and chocolate flavors, for delivery within Manhattan, via the company’s website. A twelve-pack goes for $48.
