Filed Under: Uncategorized • Posted on May 17th, 2011 by Jess • No Comments »

DreadCentral.com reports that the upcoming supernatural thriller Spectre that Nicole is in talks to star in has “sealed multiple distribution deals” at Cannes. More details will be posted soon about Spectre.

It was just a few days ago that we first got word on Spectre, a new film from Insidious director James Wan that has Nicole Kidman attached to star. Well, look for lots more news soon as the flick has just sealed multiple international distribution deals at Cannes.

Nicole Kidman, SpectreAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Spectre has been sold by IM Global’s genre label Octane to Momentum in the UK, Aurum in Spain, Koch in Germany, Top Film in Russia, Icon in Australia, and Gussi in Latin America, among others. Kidman’s company Blossom Films is producing the movie with Overnight Productions.

With sales like that before the film is anywhere near completion, we suspect we’ll be hearing about some Stateside distro shortly along with more storyline details other than the increasingly common “supernatural thriller” label.

British actress Martine McCutcheon is leading a campaign to crack down on child trafficking in the U.K.

The Love Actually star headed to Downing Street in London on Thursday to deliver a petition to British Prime Minister David Cameron calling for improved care and protection for trafficking victims.

The letter was signed by 735,899 people, including stars Ricky Gervais, Sienna Miller, Nicole Kidman and Elizabeth Hurley. The document outlines plans for a guardianship system for young victims.

McCutcheon says, “Hundreds of vulnerable children are trafficked into the U.K. from over 52 countries. Even those who are identified are often left without proper care and support. I believe this is unacceptable.” »

Moulin Rouge Month – Rare photos from a 2002 Australian Oscar Nominees Party
Filed Under: Uncategorized • Posted on May 15th, 2011 by Jess • No Comments »

A few weeks ago I said this month would be MOULIN ROUGE month here at Nicole’s Magic, and I’ve failed (spectacularly spectaculary) so far on this for the first part of the month. I am going to try to get it going for the 2nd half of the month though … and today we start that. I was browsing through my computer trying to decide which event to add more photos from, and came across some super-rare photos of Nic at the LA Australian Film & Television Association party to celebrate the Australian Oscar nominees back in 2002. Nic was of course nominated for Moulin Rouge. We previously had a couple of photos from this event, but now I have added several more photos, and in HQ! Nic looks gorgeous, and seems to be having a fun time – as you can see in the photo where she’s obviously giving off a massive laugh! I love these photos, and we’re very lucky to have found them. Enjoy :-D

Hallstrom leaves The Danish Girl

Lasse Hallstrom leaves Nicole Kidman sex change feature but ramps up plans for The Hypnotist.

Lasse Hallstrom has left the planned Nicole Kidman starrer The Danish Girl. The film about the world’s first sex change operation was to have been made in Germany this summer, but now stands without a director.

“There has been too much back and forth with the film, I don´t think the script is perfect and since Rachel Weisz left the project two weeks ago, there is not a complete cast,” Hallstrom told Screen. “This is a sensitive subject, and I feel a film about it should not be rushed into production without everything being perfect. But I have told the producers that if they don´t find a new director now, I´d be happy to make the film at a later stage.”

He’s now concentrating on The Hypnotist, his first film in Sweden in 25 years.

Nicole Kidman May Live Our Wild Life
Filed Under: Uncategorized • Posted on May 15th, 2011 by Jess • No Comments »

Mandalay Pictures is intending to get Our Wild Life, a biopic of renowned wildlife conservationist Dame Daphne Sheldrick, up and running as a big, Gorillas in the Mist-style pic, and is after Nicole Kidman to star.

The Wrap has dug up the fact that Kidman’s been reading the script and likes what she sees, but that she hasn’t made any formal move to star in the film just yet so consider this rumour for now.

Sheldrick’s story is certainly a compelling one, with all the ingredients for a meaty, possibly award-worthy film if it’s cooked correctly: Sheldrick’s husband was the founder of Kenya’s huge Tsavo National Park. After his death in 1977, Sheldrick dedicated her life to living and working in the Nairobi National Park, going up against poachers and warlords to protect elephants and rhinos. She even hand-reared more than 70 of the animals and helped rescue others stolen from the parks.

Salt’s Phillip Noyce (who helped push Kidman towards superstardom with Dead Calm) is attached to direct the film, which could use some luck after a rough journey through development so far. Nick Cassavetes was attached to direct the movie back in 2009 when it was called Peaceable Kingdom, but was then fired, and sued then-rights holders New Line for breach of contract, claiming he was owed money for taking a crack at the script and for turning down other possible projects to focus on the biopic. Since then, Walter Salles flirted with the ides of directing the film, but ultimately passed.

If Mandalay and any eventual distributor can get a cast in place, the aim is to shoot the movie in September.

Nicole Kidman tops list of the ten most influential mothers in Australia
Filed Under: Uncategorized • Posted on May 15th, 2011 by Jess • No Comments »

NICOLE Kidman and Rebecca Gibney have topped a list of the 10 most influential celebrity mothers in Australia in a survey of more than 2000 people.

The study was carried out by brand, media and communications researchers Millward Brown, who measure how well celebrities are liked and how much they are talked about online and offline.

An overall “Cebra” score is produced, indicating to the celebrity’s attractiveness to marketers.

“This is a list of mothers who could most influence buyer-behaviour,” company account director Hannah McHard, said.

“Nicole Kidman tops the list because she is seen as clever and sensible; she has been through a lot and her strength of character is something that many mothers would identify with.”

2011 Birthday Project!
Filed Under: Uncategorized • Posted on May 14th, 2011 by Jess • 2 Comments »

It’s Nicole’s 44th birthday in just over a month, and this year we want to say a really big Happy Birthday to her! Her hugely successful past 12 months, coupled with the fact that she now has an official site and Facebook page, makes this the ideal year to do another Birthday Project here at Nicole’s Magic. So I decided to put something together here, with the help of my friend Celyn who made us a super-pretty layout, and it is now up. Click the graphic below, or on the permanent link on the sidebar, to view, find out more about, and take part in our Birthday Project!

The plan is for you, the fans, to submit your birthday messages and graphics to Nicole, and we will then post the link to the project on her site and Facebook page, in the hope that she will see it, or someone will see it and pass it on to her. Seeing as how her fanmail address doesn’t appear to work anymore, it seemed doing this all online and posting it to her official pages would be the best bet in getting her to see it.

So, let’s not disappoint her – it would be fantastic to have a lot of entries, so get your thinking caps on and submit your message, and spread the word about our project so we can get as many Nicole fans involved as possible!

‘Moulin Rouge’ At 10: A Spectacular Spectacular MTV News Event – Now Streaming!
Filed Under: Uncategorized • Posted on May 2nd, 2011 by Jess • 1 Comment »

The ‘Moulin Rouge’ At 10: A Spectacular Spectacular MTV News Event is now happening, and you can watch it by clicking the link below!! Baz Luhrmann and John Leguizamo are currently being interviewed, and we await Nic’s arrival…

EDIT: Very sadly, Nicole was not able to take part in this event today. The host said at the start of the stream (which I previously missed), that she was unable to attend due to being busy on Hemingway & Gelhorn. Such a shame!! Still, Baz Luhrmann talks in depth and with typical passion about the film, and is joined by the delightful Catherine Martin and John Leguizamo, with Ewan McGregor and the music producer joining them via video links.
