Movie Of The Month
As part of a bi-monthly feature here at Nicole's Magic, each month we will be taking a look back at one of Nicole's films or acting projects. Nicole has an immense body of work behind her, and there's no better way to be reminded of her talent and how much we love her than immersing ourselves and taking an in depth look at those works.
"Mrs Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself..."
While this main site is now only focussing on Nicole's career up to 2006, you can still keep up-to-date with her current activities on our forum. Visit Nicole's Bulletin for the latest news and photos, and be sure to register to be able to post your own messages, and get access to even more Nicole chat and interaction.
I made this update a few days ago but completely forgot to post about it – oops! As part of our Favourites month, I’ve added some additional photos from the The Human Stain press conference. This is one of my favourite press conference looks from Nicole, and I love her curly hair and pretty top.
More photos coming later. Plus, ohhh, a little big treat is coming over the weekend
Nic attended the CMT Music Awards in Nashville last night, in support of her husband who was nominated for 2 awards. Nicole showed off a more adventurous style, wearing a green, navy and brown dress from the Proenza Schouler Fall 2011 collection, which had a see-through skirt, with lilac Pierre Hardy shoes, and her red hair tied messily back with bangs. I love her hair, and I love this green colour on her! In fact, I just love seeing her in any colour again!
I’ve added over 150 photos from this event to our Gallery. I’m sure more will pop up soon too Scroll down this post for a short tidbit from the event, in which Nic & Keith mention their family…
Matthew Goode is in talks for the male lead in Fox Searchlight’s “Stoker,” which marks the domestic directing debut for South Korean helmer Chan-wook Park.
Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman are already lined up to star. Story follows a teenage girl who, while mourning the death of her father, must deal with the unexpected appearance of a mysterious uncle (Goode).
Tony and Ridley Scott are producing through their Scott Free banner along with Michael Costigan. “Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller penned the script under the pseudonym Ted Foulke.
The project has been a top priority for Fox Searchlight, given the rising profile of Park, who steered international hits “Oldboy” and “Thirst.”
Goode’s part has been a hot item among many leading men in Hollywood: Colin Firth and James Franco were both at one point considered front-runners; when they moved on, thesps such as Michael Fassbender and Joel Edgerton had also shown interest.
Best known for his role as Ozymandias in Warner Bros.’ “Watchmen,” Goode can be seen next in “Burning Man,” set to bow this fall.
He is repped by CAA and Dalzell & Beresford. Park is repped by WME.
Finally, yes, finally, we have a new Movie Of The Month! The movie needs no introduction, all I will say is that it is hard to put something into words for this movie, because of how special and meaningful it is. The song lyrics in red on the page say it all. But I hope you enjoy what I have written! The ‘Downloads’ will be added to it asap early this week.
We are being treated by Nicole and her web team now!! Her official site has been undergoing some changes and updates, including a cute photo of Nic on Sesame Street, and a ‘Featured Movie’ item. And today a lovely message of Nicole saying hi to her fans has been posted! She is her typically shy and humble self, and it’s a really sweet video. I think it’s fantastic that she is reaching out to her fans more now, and I know we’re all very appreciative of it. Watch the message below … and then head on over to the official site to browse their work and hey, enjoy the video again there maybe!
As promised, I have some additional Moulin Rouge era appearance photos for you now! These can also count towards our ‘Favourites’ month theme (see post below), as Nicole looks absolutely gorgeous in these photos, and they’re definitely some of my favourites. I’ve added more photos and replaced some with HQ/better versions to the Unveiling of the Moulin Rouge Windows and Moulin Rouge LA Screening albums, event which Nic attended in 2001 to promote the film. Nic has a huge smile plastered on her face in many of the photos, and there are some particularly great photos of her and Ewan at the screening. Further down the post is some information on those Moulin Rouge windows they unveiled at Bloomingdales.
Hello Nicole fans! After my lacklustre performance with the planned Moulin Rouge month last month (May), I’ve decided to expand it and continue it throughout June as well. And seeing as how the film received it’s American release in this month 10 years ago it seems appropriate. Not only that, but to celebrate Nicole’s birthday this month we’re also making this ‘Favourites’ month – alongside Moulin Rouge related photos, I’ll also be (attempting to) add additional photos from some of my favourite Nicole appearances and films from over the years. Plus, if you have a favourite appearance of Nicole’s then let me know and I’ll see if I have any more photos from them that I can add.
On a similar note, make sure you check out my absolute favourite film blog – The FIlm Experience – as they’ve gone all Moulin Rouge this week too!
Check back later today for some old Moulin Rouge era HQ photos…
Oprah’s chat show ended this past week after 25 years on air. Nic was one of many celebrities who spoke about Oprah and said their farewells to the show:
“I have been an avid Oprah watcher for as long as I can remember, sharing laughs and tears with millions upon millions of viewers, all with whom she has touched in various ways. She has such a genuine compassion and intellect that is universally embraced. While I’m sad to watch this chapter in Oprah’s career come to a close, I look forward to watching her legacy continue through OWN.” — Nicole Kidman.
Last Sunday night Nic attended the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas to support her husband, who performed at the event. Nic wore a black lace and beaded Dolce & Gabbana dress with a sheer bottom, and her red hair looked thick tied back in a braid. Nic was said to be seen “smiling proudly” as Keith performed on stage. I’ve now added over 140 photos from the event to our gallery, over half of which are in HQ! There are some particularly cute shots of Nic giggling at something on the red carpet! Further down this post are a few tidbits relating to the event.
VOGUE JAPAN and GQ JAPAN will support the activities of the “SAVE JAPAN! PROJECT” as its media partner on a long-term basis in sympathy with the objectives of the project. Organizers of the project opened a portal site immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake to transmit region-by-region disaster information via Twitter and Facebook, providing useful information for disaster-stricken people.
The partners’ first step toward supporting the appeal is the Charity T-shirt Project. Responding to calls by VOGUE JAPAN and GQ JAPAN, 10 artists from around the world, including Lady Gaga, Karl Lagerfeld, Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow, have designed T-shirts with messages of encouragement for Japan. These T-shirts will go on sale on June 25 through UNIQLO, another supporter of “SAVE JAPAN! PROJECT,” at its global stores in 11 countries and regions.
Conde Nast publications around the world, including VOGUE and GQ, will promote the T-shirt project under the theme “FASHION UNITES FOR JAPAN” as their global undertaking.
The charity project is expected to raise approximately 100 million yen (US$1.2 million), which will be donated via the Japanese Red Cross Society to aid restoration from the disaster. VOGUE JAPAN and GQ JAPAN will support the afflicted people through this project in hopes of early recovery.
