As part of a bi-monthly feature here at Nicole's Magic, each month we will be taking a look back at one of Nicole's films or acting projects. Nicole has an immense body of work behind her, and there's no better way to be reminded of her talent and how much we love her than immersing ourselves and taking an in depth look at those works.

To go alongside their new May issue cover, the W magazine website have posted their latest Screen Test interview with Nicole. Unfortunately I can’t embed it, but you can watch it through the link below…
Nicole Kidman opens up to Lynn Hirschberg about wanting to live “a well-examined life,” her protective husband, and “being the only person who has gotten to shave Robert Downey Jr. naked.”

Big thanks today goes to our forum member ‘thehours_fan’ for posting the very first still of Nicole in The Paperboy! Nicole plays Charlotte Bless in the film, a character described as a middle aged postal worker who gets her kicks from corresponding with death row inmates. The air around her is “alive with sex”, one character description read. Nicole looks suitably trashy in this first still, and makes me even more intrigued and excited to see her in this role!
As well as the new still, I’ve taken time to catch up the Gallery with a few other missing Paperboy photos. They did a few reshoots in January of this year, and Nic was snapped on set again in full hair and make-up. The first poster for the movie was released in late December, and a new one a few weeks later in January – as you’ll see in our Gallery, they are both very artistic and intense looking!
What do you think of our first official look at Nic in this movie? Do you think this will be a great role for her?

A couple of weeks ago our forum received a rather long overdue new look! It is now adorned with a vivid black and pink new theme, featuring several colour co-ordinated photos of our Nic. Hop on over to take a peek…
And speaking of our forum, I have some information regarding new registrations there. Unfortunately the forum is being completely over-run by spam registrations making it impossible for me to keep up with approving new members the way it is set up now. So I’ve decided to close registrations and ask those who want to become a member of the forum to fill in this form with your email address and the username you would like to use at the forum. I will then register an account for you and email you back with your password once it is set up. Filling in the form this way will take you no more time than it would to fill in the registration page on the forum, and will probably get you activated to post more quickly. Those who have registered for the forum but have NOT been activated yet, please fill in this form too and I will make sure your account is set up.
I’m terribly sorry about this – registering at a forum should be simple, easy, and open to everyone, but unfortunately I cannot find a way to stop the spam we are getting at the moment. We LOVE meeting new members at the forum though, and are eagerly awaiting some fresh new members to chat with!! So please consider registering with us this new way – we look forward to meeting you

Wow, our amazing forum member barbara just posted this extremely rare video for us on our forum, and I had to share it with you here! She’s found a promotional video Nicole and Tom Cruise did in the late 90′s to support Sydney’s bid to get the 2000 Olympics. I’d never seen this before, so I was very excited to see such a rarity. Big thanks again to barbara.
During Sydney’s bid for the 2000 Olympic Games Jon Dee managed to recruit Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman to present a video that supported Sydney’s ‘Green Bid’.
Written and directed by Jon, the video outlined the way that Sydney would reduce the environmental impact of the Sydney Games. Released 4 days before the final decision was taken by the IOC, the video generated more global publicity than any other PR initiative organised for the Sydney bid.

Walter Salles’ On the Road, Lee Daniels’ The Paperboy and Michael Haneke’s Amour will join Rust and Bone by Jacques Audiard and David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis for a trip to the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival.
Also screening in the competition are Holy Motors by Leos Carax, The Angels’ Share by Ken Loach, John Hillcoat’s Lawless, which stars Shia LaBoeuf, Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce and Gary Oldman alongside Jessica Chastain in a Prohibition-era drama, and more U.S. titles such as Jeff Nichols’ Mud and Andrew Dominik’s Killing Them Softly with Brad Pitt and Ray Liotta. All in all, U.S. filmmakers will have a strong presence on the Croisette this year.
President Gilles Jacob and artistic director Thierry Fremaux announced the official selection for the May 16-27 festival at a press conference in Paris late Thursday morning.
While the 2011 competition lineup was light on U.S. directors and star power, the Cannes team certainly made up for it this year. “American cinema has come back relatively en force,” Fremaux said.
Pitt, Robert Pattinson, Nicole Kidman and Marion Cotillard and Matthew McConaughey — who both have multiple projects in Cannes — will add glam to the fest as they make their way down the world’s most famous cinema catwalk.

Just a small update now – I’ve been doing some spring cleaning on the main page, and have updated our Favourite Affiliates on the sidebar, the Current Projects & Latest Photos above, and also added a Recently Updated Pages section on the sidebar. This Recently Updated Pages is obviously self-explanatory, as it will list the pages (and posts) which have been added/edited recently. As I’ve said before, I’m working on re-doing all our content, so this list may give you a sneak peek at some of that before it is officially launched It’s also a way to highlight some of our content pages which you might otherwise have missed. Big thanks to my friend Lindsey for her help with setting this up.

I have now started on adding the missing 2012 event photos, and have added 3/4 all of this years events. These include Nic promoting Hemingway & Gelhorn during HBO’s Television Critics Association Winter Panel, a Tod’s party during Paris Fashion Week, and accepting an award for her women’s rights work at the Kuwait-America Foundation Gala. Read more about Nic receiving that award further down this post. I will also search out info about the HBO TCA panel asap, and post that as part of a Hemingway catch-up update in the near future.
Enjoy the lovely new HQ photos, and check back in the next few days for the final 2012 event pics! (Then I’ll finish the 2011 events).
EDIT: I’ve now added photos from the remaining 2012 event – Tropfest! Nic was photographed alongside a plethora of other A-list Aussie stars at the event, including Geoffrey Rush, Toni Collette, Cate Blanchett and her good friend Baz Luhrman. They all served as judges at the short film festival. These are some of my favourite recent photos of Nic, and it’s great to see her back in Australia supporting the film industry. Check out some gorgeous HQ photos from the event in the Gallery, and watch a couple of videos from the red carpet further down this post.
