Movie Of The Month
As part of a bi-monthly feature here at Nicole's Magic, each month we will be taking a look back at one of Nicole's films or acting projects. Nicole has an immense body of work behind her, and there's no better way to be reminded of her talent and how much we love her than immersing ourselves and taking an in depth look at those works.
"Mrs Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself..."
While this main site is now only focussing on Nicole's career up to 2006, you can still keep up-to-date with her current activities on our forum. Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts Want to Work Together, Can’t Find Right Movie Project
The last and only time Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts appeared in a movie together was in the 1991 indie Flirting.
Considering what besties they are, one would think they would have reunited on the big screen by now.
Sadly, they haven’t. But it’s not like they don’t want to.
“We’re looking,” Kidman told me at the Producers Guild of America Awards.
In fact, Watts added, “We’ve been looking for a long time now. But both of us have…picky tastes. It has to be the right piece.”
Kidman pleaded with a smile, “Somebody think of something, please!”
Not that the two aren’t busy enough. Both just wrapped films in which they play two of the most iconic princesses in modern history. Kidman stars as Grace Kelly in Grace of Monaco and Watts as Princess Diana in Diana.
“You said we were going to have a princess party,” Kidman said to Watts.
Watts quickly responded, “I was joking, but maybe we’ll have a tea party kind of thing.”
Nic attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Beverley Hills last night, looking dazzling in a midnight blue embellished gown by Vivienne Westwood with Fred Leighton jewellry. She bumped into Les Miserables director Tom Hooper on the red carpet, and seemed to be pretty pleased to see him! She was also snapped with her The Paperboy director Lee Daniels. During the ceremony, Nicole presented the award for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Supporting Role which went to Tommy Lee Jones; as he was not able to attend the event, Nicole accepted on his behalf. Unfortunately Nic did not pick up a statue – they went to Anne Hathaway and Julianne Moore in their categories – but Nic seemed to have a good night anyway, with Naomi and Russell Crowe!
91 gorgeous HQ photos have been added to our Gallery for you, and check back over the next few days for additional photos (including the ones with Russell + screencaps), plus any videos and articles that may pop up. Most of these photos were sent to us by DeA so I want to send a massive thank you to her for being so generous! <3
Nic attended the Producers Guild Awards in Beverley Hills last night, with her BFF Naomi Watts. The twosome walked the red carpet together dressed in black, with Nicole opting for a floor length black gown by her friend L’Wren Scott. I love seeing Nic & Naomi on the red carpet together again!!
You can find over 70 fabulous HQ photos from this event in our Gallery, most of which come courtesy of the wonderful MaryJane so a big thank you goes to her.
Nicole went to the Sundance Film Festival last weekend to promote Stoker, and was joined by her co-stars Matthew Goode and Mia Wasikowska, and their director Chan-wook Park. I will add photos from the events she attended there soon, but for now I have added photos from 4 portrait sessions she took part in. I particularly like the last session! Big thanks to DeA for that set.
In the next few weeks I intend/hope to have the time to catch up on all missing photos etc. from the past few months to get everything up-to-date. We will then move into our new phase of focussing on Nicole’s earlier work, which I hope will breathe new life into Nicole’s Magic. There are a few other site plans I am considering as well, but I will keep you up-to-date on everything as and when needs be.
Hello Nicole fans! To (finally) start with our Movie Of The Month theme, I have now found time to do a small gallery update. As mentioned before, the Movie Of The Month will now be a bit more prominent, with updates for that film taking place throughout the two months. So I have now added several more HQ photos from the AFI Luncheon that Nic attended in early 2004 for Cold Mountain – Nic attended the luncheon with her mum, who you can see in a few of these pictures, and posed with Clint Eastwood for the cameras. I’ve also replaced the photos from the Cold Mountain Pre Golden Globe Dinner with HQ ones. I really love the photos of Nic with Jude Law and Anthony Minghella at this dinner.
At the bottom of this post you can watch a a video of AFI’s montage of films of 2003 – look out for shots of Nic in The Human Stain and our Movie Of The Month Cold Mountain.
More Cold Mountain/2003-2004 related gallery updates coming next update!
Matt Damon hijacked the Jimmy Kimmel Live chat show last night, tied Jimmy to a chair, and welcomed several A-list celebrities to his couch … including Nicole! Nicole was first to join Matt on his couch, and was then followed by Gary Oldman, Amy Adams, Reese Witherspoon and then Demi Moore. Watch the hilarious introduction and celebrity segments below…! Screencaps will be added soon.
Nicole receives a fair amount of coverage in the new March issue of Total Film magazine, with features on both Stoker and The Paperboy. They also re-review Moulin Rouge ahead of its re-release in UK cinemas for Valentine’s Day. Scans are in our Gallery!
Later than planned – sorry! – but here is the batch of gorgeous HQ photos of Nicole at the Golden Globes last week. I really love Nicole’s dress and hair here! It’s a great look on her. Big thanks to MaryJane and Marica for contributing some of the photos. There are lots of fabulous shots in here, and with over 170 HQ photos, you should have some happy browsing …
Further down this post are some videos from the red carpet plus one of the Best Actress In A Mini-Series award presentation.
Nicole attended the Golden Globe Awards last night, and looked stunning in a black Alexander McQueen gown, with Fred Leighton jewellry and curly hair. I really love this look on her, particularly the hairstyle! Unfortunately she didn’t win either of the awards she was up for – Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress In A Mini-Series – but it was still fantastic for her to be honoured with nominations, particularly for The Paperboy!
There are lots of gorgeous photos from this event, but unfortunately I haven’t had time to sort through and add them all just yet. So for now, 3 teaser HQs are in the Gallery to wet your appetite for the rest that will be added in the next few days. I will also add any tidbits and vids from the event.
