Here’s another fabulous rare old magazine scan treat for you, courtesy of one of our BFF’s April! I have uploaded scans from the February 4th 1992 issue of Australian Woman’s Day magazine. Don’t be fooled by the tabloid headline for her on the cover – in the interview inside she mainly talks about several interesting career topics, including getting roles because of hard-work and not who she was married to, and working with shorter actors (yes, really!). The spread was to promote the release of Billy Bathgate, so there is a bit about that film, including a quote from director Robert Benton about meeting and casting her. Close friend Deborra Lee Furness also talks about Nicole. There is an interesting mention of Scientology, revealing something I wasn’t aware of …
So, please be kind and don’t re-post these scans – they were kindly scanned just for Nicole’s Magic, so please don’t spoil the fun. If you’d like to share them, please just post a link to our site/the gallery album.
Have a read and enjoy …

On our Twitter page I promised some rare old treats for you, and here is the first one! I have uploaded scans from the October 1989 issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly, on which Nicole graced the cover of, and gave an interview to. The interview mentions all her projects from around that time, including Bangkok Hilton, Dead Calm and Flirting and gives an interesting insight into her thoughts on her career at the time. It’s interesting to note her goals at the time – working with Woody Allen and performing Chekhov in Russian – one of which we know she’s since had the chance the do, the other of which she has mentioned several times over the years. This is a fantastic treat, and my eyes lit up when I saw it! The scans come courtesy of our other Aussie queen, April.
Please be nice – don’t repost these scans elsewhere. They are very old and rare, and were kindly made just for Nicole’s Magic!

I have a few updates from The Paperboy for you today.
First up – and probably best of all – I’ve replaced some of the photos from the press conference for the film with super gorgeous HQ ones!! They are the ones at the end of the album, and just hover over the thumbnail to see the filenames – the ones titled hq….jpg are of course the shiny HQ ones.
The gallery has also been updated with additional stills & posters from the film. Some of the older stills have been replaced with HQ versions. An awards season ‘For Your Consideration’ advert has been released and can be seen in our Gallery. Hopefully Millenium Films will up their game and release some more….
A few film blogs/reporters are talking about the possibility of Nicole being nominated for Best Supporting Actress awards for this film, including IndieWire, who list her in their top 10, and MovieLine. Fellow superfan Nathaniel at The Film Experience also wrote a great article about her current standing in the race.
The Paperboy will hit DVD & Blu-ray in the US on January 22nd 2013. We will have HD screencaptures for you asap after that date
And in excellent news for us UK fans, the film will be released in our cinemas on March 15th. There is a new trailer for this release, which you can watch at the bottom of this post.

Check out this fantastic interview with Nicole from the Daily Beast. I love what she says about Marion Cotillard and Joaquin Phoenix/To Die For!
Nicole Kidman on Her Sexy, Award-Worthy Turn in ‘The Paperboy’
One of the most unfairly overlooked performances this awards season is Nicole Kidman’s deranged Southern sexpot in ‘The Paperboy.’ The Oscar winner opens up about the challenging role, channeling Grace Kelly for an upcoming biopic, finding love again after Tom Cruise, and more.
In The Paperboy, a steamy Southern noir directed by Lee Daniels (Precious), two greenhorn reporter-brothers, Ward (Matthew McConaughey) and Jack Jansen (Zac Efron), investigate a murder to exonerate a perverse man (John Cusack) on death row. But it’s Nicole Kidman’s performance as Charlotte Bless, a nymphomaniac who becomes obsessed with the convict, who steals the show.
Whether she’s spreading her legs for her felon during a prison visit or urinating on Zac Efron after a jellyfish attack, Kidman, sporting barely there skirts and dripping with sweat, delivers one of the most daring performances of the year.
The three-time Oscar nominee—and winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in The Hours—phoned The Daily Beast from the set of her Grace Kelly biopic, Grace of Monaco, to discuss her racy role in The Paperboy, channeling Princess Grace, finding love after Tom Cruise, and more.
Nicole Kidman: Hello! I’m in Belgium right now and it’s so cold here. We wrapped filming early, so I quickly snuck out.
What are you filming out there?
I’m doing the Grace Kelly film. We’ve worked so hard all week and just did a four-minute scene done all in one shot.

Nicole Kidman makes a man out of Zac Efron in gothic thriller The Paperboy
Nicole Kidman has an impressive effect on men’s testosterone levels. Husband Keith Urban began sprouting a beard after starting his relationship with the Academy Award-winning actress.
And Zac Efron said he grew up during the four weeks he worked with Nicole on the wonderfully lurid Southern gothic thriller The Paperboy, in which they have some racy scenes.
Nicole laughed when I mentioned what Efron had told me about working with her.
‘The rite of passage with me. I made him a man. Oh, no!’ she cried, in mock horror.
‘My husband said he started growing a beard since going out with me. He didn’t have much facial hair before, so I hope I bring out the testosterone in them.’

Well it’s December 1st already and that got me in the mood to dig some Christmas-sy stuff out and Nicole’s ‘Somethin’ Stupid’ music video with Robbie Williams from Christmas 2001 came straight to mind! So after some searching I finally came across a good quality version of the full video, and have now replaced the screencaptures we already had from the video with much better, almost HD captures. Nicole looks irresistible in this video! Re-watch the video itself below, too.
Enjoy these fabulous HD caps in the Gallery…
(And I fully intend to get more Christmas-sy updates in here this month – including a new Movie of The Month (yes, really) – so stay tuned!)
