“I see the award nominations and those things as ours, because when you act opposite someone it’s very much about the two of you, and this is so much about Aaron as well.”
Lasse Hallstrom is getting ready to start production on Nicole Kidman starrer The Danish Girl. The $15m production will shoot in Germany, with the start scheduled for July.
Gail Mutrux is producing with Germany’s Senator Film putting up the bulk of the financing.
The story is based on the novel by US author David Ebershoff, about the life of Lili Elbe, the first person to undergo sex reassignment surgery.
Kidman will play the lead, with Rachel Weisz stepping in as the main character’s wife. Previously, both Charlize Theron and Gwyneth Paltrow have been circling that role.
“The pre production is basically starting. I´ll have meetings with the author and we are doing make up tests,” Hallstrom said in Berlin. “Kidman looks great as a man. This guy looked very good, he was not the lumberjack type.”
There will also be exterior shooting in Copenhagen.
The post production on the film will slightly overlap with pre-production on Hallstrom’s first Swedish film in 24 years, thriller The Hypnotist, which will start shooting in Stockholm in January 2012.
According to the San Francisco Gate, HBO’s Hemingway & Gellhorn, starring Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen, will begin a three-month shoot on Feb. 28 in San Francisco.
The highly anticipated (at least by me) movie, which chronicles the short-lived marriage between Ernest Hemingway and Martha Gellhorn, has built studios at Pier 80.
Extras casting for the movie is being handled by Beau Bonneau Casting. They are currently looking for Spanish and Spanish-looking Men and Women for a scene (likely set in Cuba) that will be shoot over 9 weekdays (3/9 – 3/21) in Oakland. Background roles include: Soldiers, Residents, Workers, Press types, etc. Extras must be approved from photos by the Director and attend a paid wardrobe fitting sometime mid to late February in SF. To learn more about the requirements for this shoot and how to register to be an extra, visit http://beaubonneaucasting.com/.
Hello lovely Nicole fans!! I have more from the Grammys for you today. Further down this post are some articles and tidbits from the event, and a video of Keith talking backstage and explaining their love for Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. I haven’t come across any videos of Nic on the red carpet yet, surprisingly, so if any of you find any then please share with us!
And best of all, I’ve added 200+ more photos from the ceremony, including some totally stunning face shots, and almost 100 more HQs. Really love Nicole’s look here <3
The £1.63m opening for Just Go With It is very much in line with the figures for Adam Sandler’s previous comedy Grown Ups, which kicked off last August with £1.48m plus £528,000 in previews. It’s also in a similar ballpark to his family flick Bedtime Stories, which started its run on Boxing Day weekend 2008 with £1.55m. Earlier that year, You Don’t Mess With the Zohan debuted with a remarkably similar £1.52m. On the other hand, the commercial fate of movies featuring his Just Go With It co-star Jennifer Aniston are much more varied. Last year she had both The Bounty Hunter (£2.06m debut including £473,000 previews) and The Switch (£666,000 including £187,000 in previews).

For the second year in a row, I got to sit and chat with Nicole Kidman backstage at the Grammy Awards. Why is an Oscar winner, and Best Actress nominee- for “Rabbit Hole”–hanging out at the Staples Center on Grammy night? Well, because her husband, and now father of two of her children, is Keith Urban, winner of the Best Country Performance by a Male Singer.
And while Keith is on stage or doing press, Nicole is backstage having dinner, and meeting music people. For a few hours, she isn’t the focus of everyone’s attention, which is nice. Backstage she ran into another “rock widow”–Heidi Klum, married to Seal.
Between Heidi’s German accent and Nicole’s Aussie ear, they almost needed a translator! Said Heidi: “I just went tenting.” Nicole: “Tinting?” “No, tenting.” Klum explained she’d just pitched a $50 tent in the Grand Canyon with the crew of her new TV show. “I loved it!” Heidi exclaimed.
Kidman is waiting for the February 27th Oscar ceremony by shooting a highly anticipated HBO movie about Ernest Hemingway and his famous writer wife, Martha Gellhorn. “It’s a terrific role,” Nicole told me, “but very demanding. I have to get up there to San Francisco and get my head into it.”
As expected, our Nicole did attend the Grammys last night with her husband. And boy did she look amazing! She wore a floral Jean Paul Gaultier dress with Fred Leighton jewellry and her red hair down and curly. I absolutely adore this look on Nicole, the dress is perfect for her and the colours are fabulous. Two thumbs up, 5 stars etc. Definitely one of my favourite look of hers from the last few years.
Keith did win an award (congratulations!) but it was announced before the show, so he didn’t get to give a speech on stage, sadly. The couple seemed to be having a great time during the show though! Nicole was spotted singing and dancing along to Katy Perry (scroll down) and Mick Jagger, and she even bumped into a few of her good friends there – seated behind her was Baz Luhrmann, and further along Baz’s row was L’Wren Scott (Nicole’s long time friend and stylist, and Mick Jagger’s girlfriend). And Nicole and Keith were seen sharing a warm reunion with Nic’s Nine co-star and friend Kate Hudson … possibly discussing their individual baby news?!
I have added 41 beautiful HQs from the ceremony to our Gallery today, and I will hopefully have more time tomorrow to make a bigger post, with more photos, and some articles, videos etc. For now though, scroll down this post for THE cutest and funniest video of Nicole singing along to Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ – how can you not love her?!
Charlize Theron. Gwyneth Paltrow. Marion Cotillard. Rachel Weisz. Rachel is the latest in a string of top actresses that has been linked to Nicole’s upcoming project The Danish Girl. The Hollywood Reporter now report that she is attached, and state that director Lasse Hallstrom will shoot the film this summer. The project has been stop-starting for the last few years, and in a recent interview Nicole said she expected it would take quite a long time to get full financing for the film.
I’ll keep you posted on further developments! Nicole will be starting filming for Hemingway & Gelhorn anyday now, and she said she is close to closing a deal for Sweet Bird Of Youth on Broadway later this year, so it could potentially be a busy year for her.
Hallstrom, currently in post on Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, will shoot Nicole Kidman/Rachel Weisz starrer The Danish Girl in Germany this summer. That picture will move into post just as The Hypnotist begins principal photography.
Tonight marks a break in Nicole’s incredible awards-season run, in which she’s very much been a focus of attention. She takes a backseat tonight at the Grammy Awards, where her husband Keith Urban is nominated! The couple will be attending and hopefully walking the red carpet together at any minute.
You can watch the red carpet live on the links below (thanks Roxanne from our forum!). I will post the first photo here tonight if it pops up before I go offline! If not, check back tomorrow for the start of full coverage, and check out our forum for photos and chat throughout the night!
