Movie Of The Month
As part of a bi-monthly feature here at Nicole's Magic, each month we will be taking a look back at one of Nicole's films or acting projects. Nicole has an immense body of work behind her, and there's no better way to be reminded of her talent and how much we love her than immersing ourselves and taking an in depth look at those works.
"Mrs Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself..."
While this main site is now only focussing on Nicole's career up to 2006, you can still keep up-to-date with her current activities on our forum. Visit Nicole's Bulletin for the latest news and photos, and be sure to register to be able to post your own messages, and get access to even more Nicole chat and interaction.
I can’t believe awards season is now over! Fortunately, there are so many photos of Nic at the Oscars that I think we’ll be able to draw it out for at least another few days So, today I have added the first batch of those photos – 45 gorgeous exclusive HQs from the red carpet, show and press room. While this isn’t my favourite look of Nicole’s, she still looks stunning, and was (obviously) a highlight for me on the red carpet. And there are some really great photos in this batch added today.
Unfortunately I’ve been so busy trying to gather photos today that I don’t have time for much more than that today. But check back tomorrow and for the next few days as I will be continuing to bring you more coverage from the Oscars, including many more photos, videos, articles/quotes/tidbits and more!
So here we go … the time is finally here! The Oscars red carpet has opened and celebrities are swarming along it as we speak. No sightings of Nicole yet … but that’s what this post is here for. I will be updating this post through the night with the first sighting and photos of Nicole, news of the Best Actress winner, and anything interesting in between. So keep checking back here and refreshing the page to keep up-to-date.
If you’d like to get further involved then register/login to our FORUM where we will all be very busy posting throughout the night about Nicole, and our favourite winners and red carpet looks. We’d LOVE to see as many of you as possible there, so jump on in!
I’m uploading photos from yesterday’s Independent Spirit Awards right now, so, to keep this Oscars post on top, I will be making a post about them BELOW this one. So keep an eye out for that below this post in a short while.
You can watch a live stream of the red carpet HERE, and I will come back and edit this post if/when I find a livestream of the show itself.
Finally, and most importantly, we’d like to wish our beloved Nicole the absolute best of luck tonight in her Best Actress category! We know the winners are pretty much determined by now, but we can still send luck and positive thoughts. Whichever way it goes, Nicole is without a doubt a major winner this awards season.
EDIT #1: Just seen Nicole on E!’s red carpet show! She’s wearing a white strapless dress with grey embroidering on the front. Her hair is up I think. More to come…
EDIT #2: Nicole is wearing Dior. Interesting choice … nice to see her mixing up her designers again!
EDIT #3: As expected, Natalie Portman won the Oscar for Best Actress. Nicole looked to be very happy for her! Congratulations to Natalie, and to Nicole for her very well deserved nomination! Statue or not, we’re extremely proud of Nicole and happy for her!
First of all, I am so sorry about the downtime earlier today! We’ve received so many visitors this month that we ran out of bandwidth. The upside is that Nicole is obviously very popular right, which is pretty awesome. Thanks to our wonderful host we are now, obviously, back.
So, I posted the first look at Nic at the Independent Spirit Awards last night, and today I have added over 100 HQ photos from the event! Nicole looks gorgeous in a red dress by L’Wren Scott. She was seen walking hand-in-hand with BFF Naomi Watts inside the event, and the two – plus Keith (who wasn’t on the red carpet with Nic, but was inside) – were snapped chatting inside as well. Nicole and Jeremy Renner presented the award for Best Male Lead, which went to the extremely talented and deserving James Franco … who Nicole will hopefully be working with on Broadway in the autumn!
Nic also popped into the Kodak Theatre yesterday to rehearse her part for tonight, and I’ve added 1 HQ photo from that.
The first photos from the Spirit Awards are below, and there are more to come. I will also be posting videos and tidbits/quotes/articles with that post too.
Jeff Bridges gave a lead actress Oscar to Natalie Portman on Saturday afternoon at the Kodak Theatre. “Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!” Bridges shouted, signaling that Portman’s acceptance speech was running long. Two minutes later, Bridges gave the same Oscar to Nicole Kidman. “Oh, you’re Nicole Kidman? Hi, Nicole,” Bridges said.
Neither actress was offended by Bridges’ informal manner, since neither was actually there. Bridges, who is nominated for lead actor this year for his performance in “True Grit,” was one of dozens of stars who arrived to rehearse their roles in Sunday’s Academy Awards, with the help of a small army of stand-ins. Celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Robert Downey Jr., Halle Berry, Javier Bardem, Reese Witherspoon, Hilary Swank, Justin Timberlake, Mila Kunis, Russell Brand, Helen Mirren and Jennifer Hudson practiced key skills like teleprompter reading, crossing the stage without tripping and pronouncing the foreign language nominees’ names.
Some had pieces of their wardrobe along — Swank brought some steep crystal-encrusted heels to try out, and her co-presenter for best director, Kathryn Bigelow, carried her gold shoes — while most kept it casual.
Nic is currently attending the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, where she is nominated for Best Female Lead for Rabbit Hole! In fact, Rabbit Hole is nominated for several awards tonight – this is definitely a night to celebrate Rabbit Hole! Nic is looking gorgeous in a little red dress and her red hair down. Below are the first few photos, and I’ll be adding a full set into the Gallery tomorrow! I’ll also edit this post later when we know who’s won. Fingers crossed for Nicole and Rabbit Hole – good luck to them all!
EDIT #1: Couple more photos from inside the ceremony have been added below – pics of Nic with the equally awesome and talented Aaron Eckhart, and James Franco! I love seeing Nicole with both of them! So far we know that James Franco has won Best Male Lead, beating out Aaron for Rabbit Hole.
EDIT #2: Natalie Portman again nabbed the award for Best Female Lead. Congrats to her, and of course still to Nic. Nicole is wearing L’Wren Scott tonight.
In all the excitement for the Independent Spirit Awards, I almost forgot to post about this! Nic attended the Australians In Film Pre-Oscar Party in Los Angeles last night, where all the Australian Oscar nominees got together to celebrate their success! Nicole was photographed alongside some of the nominees, including Best Supporting Actress nominee Jacki Weaver, who Nicole said she grew up watching.
Photos have now been added to the Gallery for you, including 15 exclusive HQs thanks to my friend Maria!
EDIT: I mistook some of these photos to all be from the same event, when in fact Nic attended another event after the Australians In Film Party! She and Keith went to Kathy Preston’s Book Party as well, where they were photographed with good friend Wendi Murdoch, among others.
The Independent Spirit Awards red carpet has started I believe, so this a very quick update before I start scouring the web for photos! I’ve added a bunch of photos to the Gallery today, in various categories. We have a few new photoshoot additions, including from the recent Vanity Fair and In Style spreads. Plus a gorgeous addition from the Harper’s Bazaar photoshoot! Thanks go to Mirik for a few magazine pictures, including Harpers Bazaar Mexico which features a beautiful unseen photo of Nicole, probably taken for Omega. Then, a big thanks goes to my friend Josie for exclusive scans from the recent issue of Newsweek that Nicole was featured on, alongside other big Oscar contenders. It’s a fantastic article. And finally, I’ve added quite a lot of screencaps from the recent 60 Minutes interview!
Make sure you check the Last Uploads page too, as I may add a few other pics here and there.
It’s Oscar Night on Sunday, and – as if I need to remind you – Nic is nominated! To (start to) celebrate that, we’re taking a look back at Nicole’s history with the Academy Awards, remembering all the occasions she attended the awards, and that one special night in March 2003! While the Academy seem to prefer to invite, rather than nominate, her, there’s no question she is still Oscar royalty, and a highlight when seen on the red carpet and the stage!
Read through our specially-written retrospective below, and then feel free to post a comment with any and all of your Oscar-related Nicole thoughts! What do you hope she wears on Sunday? Which of her previous Oscar looks is your favourite? Share your congratulations for her nomination. You know the drill!
UN Women, the new name for UNIFEM, was launched last night, and a press conference was held at the UN for the launch. Unfortunately Nicole was unable to be there in person as she is in San Francisco to film Hemingway & Gelhorn, but she appeared in a live video message … which was unfortunately prematurely cut out due to a technical fault!
I’m very honored to be the Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women, the new organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, and I’m thrilled to invite you to be part of their special launch event featuring many distinguished speakers and performers.
You can find more coverage from the launch at their official website here, and below is the full webcast from the event. I haven’t watched the whole thing yet, so can’t tell you when Nic appears! Make sure you check out the official links for the organisation below too.
This past Sunday Nicole appeared on the Australian chat show 60 Minutes, and gave a very moving and honest interview which mainly focussed on her new baby and her other 3 children. She came across very relaxed, honest, happy and genuine, which is just beautiful to see. This is a must-see interview.
Unfortunately I can’t embed the video, so you’ll have to click the image link below. Can any of our Aussie visitors who watched the show on TV confirm that this video is the full interview?
