I’ve updated the Gallery with various new photos, including screencaps from the 2 new Rabbit Hole videos I posted earlier and photos from yesterdays Oprah appearance (screencaps to come asap). We also have a new Russian poster for Rabbit Hole, and a really brilliant new US poster for the film. I really love this new US poster, for the reasons summed up perfectly by RopeOfSilicon.com:
…it is quite simply excellent, to the point I don’t think I even need to say why. You can pick up on so much simply by looking at the fractured images and the knowledge the film follows the course of a couple dealing with the recent death of their young son.
Okay. A day after it was announced that today’s newly minted Indie Spirit nominee and probable Oscar nominee James Franco is co-hosting the Oscars, here’s the latest from the actor’s never boring career.
It turns out that Franco is very much in the mix to play opposite Nicole Kidman next fall on Broadway in “Sweet Bird of Youth.”
The role of course would be that of Chance Wayne in the Tennessee Williams classic was played on screen by Paul Newman. The last time it was on Broadway, Christopher Walken had the role. That was in 1975.
Nicole, obviously, is taking the Elizabeth Taylor role of Alexandra deLago. It’s her second Broadway play, and Franco’s debut if it all gets ironed out.
In this production, David Cromer is directing. The talks between Franco and producer Scott Rudin have been going on for a while, I am told. But the hitch has been whether the production can do rehearsals late in the day next fall to accommodate Franco’s school schedule. Apparently, Yale gives homework!
No confirmation yet, but it does seem like this is going to happen. Hot ticket? The hottest, I’d say. Kudos to Rudin, too. He’s also got two Oscar-buzzed movies this season, “The Social Network” and “True Grit.”
As posted about before, Nicole appeared on Oprah yesterday, as did her husband Keith Urban! Nicole looked gorgeous in a floaty beige dress and long red hair. It was, as always, a great interview, with Nicole sharing some adorable stories about her little girl Sunday, talking about her relationship with Keith, and about the process of Rabbit Hole. Nicole and Keith will also appear on one of Oprah’s upcoming episodes in Australia at the Sydney Opera House.
I’m now working on getting all the coverage together for you here, and to start with, below are a batch of articles featuring quotes and stories from the show. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find the full show available anywhere yet, unless you want to try watching some of the poor quality/cropped/heavily watermarked clips (mainly Keith) on YouTube. I am looking out for a full video! In the meantime, Oprah has posted 2 clips on her website, and the one in which Nicole talks about Sunday is so cute! Oprah’s site doesn’t allow embedding, so you can watch them through the links below…

To follow later today/tomorrow will be exclusive HD screencaps, so stay tuned!
Keith Urban Thought Rehab Would “Destroy” Nicole Kidman Marriage
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman were still newlyweds — married for about four months — when he checked into rehab for drug and alcohol addiction in October 2006.
Urban, 43, worried that the time away would wreak havoc on their new union.
“[I thought], ‘Surely let’s give it a few years so we’ve got some solidity, because this kind of thing could tear us apart,’” the country singer said Monday on The Oprah Winfrey Show. “‘This could just destroy us.’”
But it was Kidman herself, plus a few close pals, who staged an intervention for Urban, who was hooked on cocaine and other substances.
NICOLE KIDMAN gave up the glamorous trappings of Hollywood to star in low-budget drama RABBIT HOLE – she slept on a blow-up bed in a house where the movie was shot.
The Moulin Rouge! star scaled back her luxury lifestyle so film bosses could create the emotional movie on a $10 million (ÂŁ6.6 million) budget.
Kidman, who also serves as a producer on the drama, reveals, “We lived in the house the movie was shot in, shared the bathroom and had blow-up beds to sleep on. When filming on location in a school, I got changed behind a curtain in the headmistress’ office.”
The film, which sees Kidman play a bereaved mother, is set for release next month (Dec10).

Nicole’s friend and Nine co-star Marion Cotillard has shared her admiration for Nicole’s performance in Rabbit Hole for Variety’s ‘Actors on actor’ new feature:
Marion Cotillard on Nicole Kidman in ‘Rabbit Hole’ Actors on actors
“The journey that Nicole Kidman took me on in ‘Rabbit Hole’ started with very subtle and odd behavior. I didn’t know anything about her story, but right away, the very first time I saw her I felt deeply for her character Becca.
Becca is so far and yet so close at the same time. The space that is created between her and the audience is simultaneously delicate, strong, violent and full of life. A part of her is gone and will always be gone, yet you feel nothing but life.
Even though this sense of life doesn’t know how and where to hang on inside her soul, it is vibrant nonetheless. Nicole created her character’s journey like a meditation. When Becca doesn’t protect herself and instead jumps into her pain, not fighting against it but surrendering to it, she takes us with her towards light. I felt what she felt. I cried with her. I understood every fragment of her inner disaster and the way she survived. Nicole is at the same time a rough and a cut diamond. She has a very simple and direct way to enter your heart. She shares her emotion in the most generous way. She is simply one of the world’s best actresses.”
