NICOLE KIDMAN and Keith Urban have celebrated Christmas by taking daughter Sunday Rose to Mass in Sydney.

Kidman, Urban and their daughter were dropped off at St Francis Xavier Church, Lavender Bay, just before the 5.30pm children’s Mass on Christmas Eve.

They took their places in their crowded church before Urban took 18-month-old Sunday Rose to the front of the church, where she sat among dozens of other children who traditionally sit around the altar, dressed as shepherds and angels.

”He was obviously so very happy,” one parishioner said. ”It was very cute – he was helping her to gesture to Nicole [who was among the congregation] as you do. There was no paraphernalia, no bodyguards. It was really refreshing to see them there.”

Father Paul Coleman – who married the couple at the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel in Manly in 2006 – officiated at the Mass.

Kidman is continuing her tradition of spending Christmas in Australia. The extended Kidman and Urban families will see in the new year at the couple’s mansion at Sutton Forest in the Southern Highlands.

Sunday Rose was recently baptised in Italy while on holiday.
