News & Updates
March 7th, 2010 - Nicole at the Oscars tonight?

    Tonight is the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, honouring the best films of the past year. As you may recall, Nine is nominated for four awards. So first off, we’d like to wish those nominated the very best of luck – we have our fingers crossed for Nine to pull off some well-deserved wins!!

    I’m not sure whether Nicole will be attending – in this article she says that it’s her mum’s birthday (Happy Birthday Mrs Kidman!) and they might be with her. Nicole has not been announced as a presenter yet, but there are rumoured to be some surprise presenters!

    You can keep track of the event at our Forum – if Nicole is there you’ll hear it there first. You’re also more than welcome to chat about the event itself, and any and all of the attendees and winners, in the relevant topic there!

    Stay tuned here for any news on Nicole’s attendance at the Oscars tonight – we’ll keep you posted!!

    EDIT: No Nicole at the Oscars this year! She’s back in Australia with her family, as expected. Maybe we’ll see her at the Oscars next year, with Rabbit Hole :p

      March 4th, 2010 - First review from screening of Rabbit Hole

        IMDB user ‘reemmeer71′ saw a preview screening of this movie recently, and posted a review on the IMDB forums. You will no doubt be interested in this – it sounds promising!

        I was extremely lucky to have the chance to view this New movie in a special house screening at a friend in the film industry in Italy “am not titled to mention any details” Please mind my English as it’s not my first language, this is my first time to post on IMDB as I wanted to share my experience of such a great piece of work after a friend advised me to do so.

        I haven’t seen the play which the movie is based on … never gut a chance to go through the work of The director John Cameron Mitchell, but after watching this movie I would love to see his previous films.
        I need to inform you spoilers might be appeal in the text, not describing actual events or twists, but in picturing how the scenes are taking place.

        March 4th, 2010 - Fox heads to ‘Monte Carlo’

          Fox 2000 is finally booking its long-planned trip to Monaco.

          Disney Channel star Selena Gomez is set to play one of the three lead roles in Tom Bezucha’s young femme comedy “Monte Carlo,” while a possible deal is in the works for “Gossip Girl’s” Leighton Meester.

          Nicole Kidman is producing with Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan. Kidman may also play a supporting role.

          Bezucha, who directed “The Family Stone” for Fox 2000, is set to begin lensing in May. “Monte Carlo” will be shot in Monaco, Budapest and Paris.

          Bezucha co-wrote the original script with Maria Maggenti, adapting a novel about a group of American women who ditch a disappointing no-frills holiday in Paris and pose as wealthy women vacationing in Monaco.

          The book, “Headhunters,” was penned by Jules Bass, known for his Rankin/Bass animated specials.

          March 4th, 2010 - Is Nicole Kidman The Wedding Doctor?

            Nicole Kidman is the new Will Smith! Wait, that doesn’t sound right … and yet she’s attached herself to The Wedding Doctor, a project that sounds just like a female Hitch. Vulture has learned that Kidman would play a relationship analyst who advises couples on their interpersonal dynamics before they marry. But after she meets her latest clients, the doc decides she’d actually be a better match for the groom-to-be, triggering a showdown with his fiancée.

            Kidman and Smith seem as different as, well, black and white, but their main point of distinction is actually black and red: Unlike Smith, who is the last remaining movie star, Kidman’s track record has lately produced a flood of red ink. Her often highbrow taste hasn’t aligned with mass audiences, so perhaps going for a mainstream, Katherine Heigl–esque romantic comedy is a smart move. (She recently signed on to do a cameo in Adam Sandler’s new comedy Just Go for It.)

            But this time, it’s not a regular Hollywood studio taking a risk with her … at least, not yet; it’s Relativity Media, the large independent motion-picture production and investment company that over the last few years has chipped in billions of dollars to help fund Sony and Universal’s film slates, and has lately moved into making its own movies and having Lionsgate distribute (e.g., Brothers). Relativity plans to shop its Kidman film to Hollywood studios, who may choose to distribute Wedding Doctor in exchange for a slice of its grosses.

            How does an Oscar-winning Chanel spokeswoman wind up holding a “will work for distribution” sign in the world of Hollywood finance? After becoming the highest-paid actress in Hollywood in 2006, Kidman made a string of flops both large and small: Nine, Australia, The Golden Compass, The Invasion, and Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus have all been box-office disasters. By comparison, Smith’s recent “bomb,” Seven Pounds, still made $168 million worldwide.

            At present, it looks like the casting of Nicole Kidman is only a rumor.

              February 28th, 2010 - Nicole Kidman joining Sandler-Aniston film

                Nicole Kidman will exercise her comedy chops in “Just Go With It,” Columbia’s romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.

                Sports Illustrated cover model Brooklyn Decker also has joined the cast of the movie, which is due to go before cameras in March in Los Angeles.

                Originally titled “Pretend Wife,” the story sees Sandler recruiting Aniston to pose as his soon-to-be-divorced wife and her kids as his fake family in order to land the girl of his dreams.

                Kidman’s role is under wraps but is rumored to be cameo in nature. Decker plays Sandler’s dream girl.

                February 25th, 2010 - Nicole to star with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston?

                  Nicole has been linked to a new project … prepare yourself though, as this is not a typical Nicole Kidman film! Thanks so much to Marta for all of this info.

                  In a recent interview, Adam Sandler mentioned Nicole would be starring in his new movie, currently titled ‘Pretend Wife‘.

                  Recently, Adam Sandler appeared on the Dan Patrick show to discuss his upcoming movie “Grown Ups”, due out in June. During the interview, Sandler mentions Dan Patrick is also going to make a guest appearance in the movie. Sandler states that Patrick is the band leader in his scene and they had the following exchange:

                  Dan Patrick: So I’m in with Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Aniston…

                  Adam Sandler: Yeah, yeah… and Dave Matthews.

                  Further information comes from Wikipedia, with a synopsis, cast list and crew and filming details:

                  A plastic surgeon (Adam Sandler), who is afraid of commitment, tells his much younger girlfriend that he’s married, with children. When she threatens to leave him, he asks a woman (Jennifer Aniston) and her children to pose as his family for a trip to Hawaii in order to prove his honesty.

                  Cast
                  * Adam Sandler as Patrick
                  * Jennifer Aniston as Palmer
                  * Nicole Kidman as Rea Ann Devlin
                  * Nick Swardson as Eddie Simms
                  * Bailee Madison as Maggie
                  * Dave Matthews
                  * Dan Patrick

                  Allan Loeb and Timothy Dowling wrote the script and Dennis Dugan, who has collaborated with Sandler on most of his films, will direct. The film will be produced under Sandler’s production company Happy Madison and will be distributed by Columbia Pictures.[1] It will be shot between Los Angeles and Hawaii on the islands of Maui and Kauai and filming will commence in March of 2010 for a release date of February 11, 2011.

                  Further mention of Nicole’s involvement comes from young actress Bailee Madison who says she is working on the film with Nicole.

                  Speculation has arisen as to whether Nicole will be a main character, or whether she will simply feature in a cameo in the same scene as Dan Patrick, who, as the first quote above states, is making a guest appearance in a scene.

                  I’ll keep you posted on this! Don’t hesitate to leave your comments on this – I know this choice of movie is controversial for Nicole fans!

                  February 23rd, 2010 - Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban to fund Haiti school

                    Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are to fund a school in Haiti.

                    The Oscar-winning actress and the country singer – who have a 19-month-old daughter Sunday Rose – are keen to help the earthquake-stricken nation by giving money to an education facility.

                    Urban said: “We’re actually going to be funding a school down there for the next 5 years.”

                    As well as providing an education, the school will also help provide the children with basic medical needs.

                    Urban added to radio station CatCountry 96: “It’s in Port-Au-Prince. The kids will also have one hot meal a day. They’ll have all of their medical taken care of by the school, and clothing, as well.”

                    The couple will be working with Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis and the Artists for Peace and Justice organization on the project.

                    Kidman and Urban are not the first stars to help Haiti, which was hit by 2 devastating earthquakes last month.

                    Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney have all donated vast sums of money, as have John Mayer and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

                    February 22nd, 2010 - New Rabbit Hole material

                      Thanks to ’skanky’ from our forum for alerting me to some new Rabbit Hole material – the film’s international distribution company, Affinity International, has created a page for Rabbit Hole on it’s official site. There’s nothing much there at the moment except for a synopsis and basic cast and crew info, but it does have the very first poster for the film:

                      Rabbit Hole poster Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart star in this poignant drama from acclaimed director, John Cameron Mitchell. Becca and howie Corbett are a happily married couple whose perfect world is forever changed when their young son is taken from them in a tragic car accident. As Becca redefines her places among friends & family, she finds solace in a mysterious relationship with the young driver of the car that killed her son. Sundance-Award-winning and Golden-Globe-nominated director John Cameron Mitchell brings to the screen an emotionally taut adaptation of David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer prize-winning drama RABBIT HOLE, an intimate, and often darkly humorous exploration of love tested by tragedy.

                      And in a recent interview, Aaron Eckhart was very complimentary towards Nicole:

                      “She’s the reason I did the movie, I think she’s ultra-talented. She’s challenging and diverse and she cares about the material. I was very, very impressed with her.”
